High Society

Homeless in Paris, originally uploaded by naughton321.

Another decisive moment – this time going Francophile…

Larger here.

Picture of a homeless man taken by the entrance to the Jardin du Luxembourg, Paris. I knew at the time that the pictures mounted on the railings would act as a foil so I could take photos of passing people unobtrusively – but I didn’t expect to get such a juxtaposition.

Both of the background photos are of high society – rich people enjoying a day at the races and a scene from an auction house selling fine art. I’m not even sure I was fully concious of the bigger picture at the time – I just knew I had an opportunity to catch him passing, with his whole world on his bicycle. I got two frames and he was gone.
