Today’s tag search was ‘free’. BBC correspondent Alan Johnston, who was kidnapped in Gaza 16 weeks ago, has finally been freed – on Independence Day no less. Johnston became a symbol amongst journalists of the dangers they often face when reporting the news in places like the Middle East. There were vigils held internationally – and not just by BBC staff. He had an amazing amount of support and I am sure it has influenced the outcome.

It’s nice that, every once in a while, there is a happy ending.
